Sourcing Strategist (Remote, within Canada)

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Sourcing Strategist is responsible for the sourcing process for current products and supporting sourcing activities for new products. These activities include developing, administrating, and deploying an efficient global procurement strategy, supporting new product development projects, finding alternate sourcing, contract negotiations, supplier management and monitoring inventory for all global products, and process improvement.

**Responsibilities**:
Sourcing:

- Develop, implement and administer a global supply chain strategy for all direct materials that strives to achieve the lowest total cost of acquisition (e.g. purchase price, freight, duties, tariffs, payment terms and cost of quality)
- Lead cross-functional teams through sourcing, evaluation, supplier selection, contract negotiation and on-boarding process; prepare appropriate documents for same
- Maintain all contracts and evaluate all performance according to contract and ensure efficient flow of all conditions in contract
- Supervise all negotiations and prepare appropriate documents; Regularly evaluate ‘’Make vs Buy’’ decisions, alternate sourcing options and supply risk assessments, including supplier financial health; implement further actions, as warranted
- Administer all commodity sourcing activities and coordinate with sourcing team to consolidate processes and select appropriate materials. Continuously analyze commodity prices & maintain currency on geopolitical factors, such as trade actions to proactively manage any changes
- Review supply methods and procurement best practices to create the most effective procurement & replenishment processes (e.g. schedules, Kanban, VMI, consigned stock)
- Leverage technology in vendor identification/ qualification and price/ contract negotiation. Working with Supply Chain, coordinate with vendors on all prices of products and recommend ways to reduce costs of components and finished products and prepare non-disclosure agreement for various sources
- Develop a supply partner network that creates a balance between local & global partners and optimizes total acquisition cost, supply agility & innovation
- Collaborate and coordinate sourcing responsibilities with corporate Supply Chain Manager

Supplier Development:

- Develop and maintain supplier balanced scorecards to evaluate supplier performance and support improvement initiatives
- Elevate supplier relationships to true partnerships that capture product and process improvement, cost reduction & other innovation ideas from all sources
- Collaborate and mentor other Supply Chain staff as required
- Develop new suppliers in various low cost regions of world
- Collaborates and coordinates supplier develop with corporate Supply Chain Manager

**Requirements**:

- 8-10+ years of sourcing, supply chain planning or related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, business administration, engineering or equivalent
- SCMP certification or other equivalent SCM certification
- Experience in complex manufacturing/ distribution environments with global supply chains
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation/ development and ISO9000 quality management procedures
- Experience with ERP systems (ideally, Infor Visual) and supply chain planning software
- Expertise with Microsoft software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and PowerBi
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Must have a valid passport and be willing and able to travel to current and potential suppliers
