The Simcoe County District School Board is seeking
qualified applicants for the temporary position of Planner, working out of the
Education Centre in Midhurst, Ontario.
Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Accommodation Planning, the
successful applicant will provide support and be a resource with respect to the
Board's planning matters and will be responsible for compiling, assessing,
implementing, and providing recommendations for accommodation and land use
planning. Typical responsibilities include reviewing, analyzing, and commenting
on all municipal development as it relates to pupil accommodation and
compatibility with existing or future school sites; preparation of supporting
technical data for the Capital Plan, capital priorities, and planning studies;
residential development tracking; and, modelling of student enrolment as it
relates to residential growth and demographic trends. Public consultation and
acting as board liaison with other public stakeholders are also key components
of this position.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
A university
degree in Planning or a related field.
Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a planning environment.
Experience in an educational/school board environment would be an asset.
Working knowledge
of the Planning Act, Education Act, and applicable legislation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Outlook Express and PowerPoint).
Proficiency in
Strong planning, organizational and attention to detail skills.
Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
Attendance at meetings outside normal working hours may be required.
Eligibility
for full membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the
Registered Professional Planner designation.
This
is a full-time temporary position for one (1) year. The regular work year for
this position is twelve (12) months of the year. The compensation range for
this twelve (12) month position is $67,089 - $83,862 per year, depending on
qualifications and experience. The normal work week for this position is thirty-five
(35) hours.
Participation
in the OMERS Pension Plan is mandatory for all full-time permanent employees,
even
if currently in receipt of an OMERS pension.
