Part-time - Open until filled - Starts: ASAP**The Position**:
As a key leader with the Student Life team, the Chaplain is responsible for encouraging Christian discipleship, pastoral care of students and leading the chapel program.

**This position is 88% FTE. 9 months of 100% full time (Aug 1-April 30); 3 months of 50% half-time (May 1 to July 31).**

**Responsibilities**:

- The Chaplain gives leadership to the chapel program, develops initiatives that promote Christian discipleship, supervises student-led ministries, and provides pastoral care and spiritual direction for students, including one-on-one pastoral support, small group sessions, and regular programming to meet the pastoral and spiritual needs of students.
- This role supports the Dean of Students in providing leadership in various discipleship initiatives on campus, as shaped by Redeemer’s mission and strategic plan.
- The chaplain is an institutional leader and demonstrates a commitment to the Reformed Christian faith and academic scholarship; modeling caring relationships as shown in dealing with students, colleagues, and the constituency.
- In order to discharge these responsibilities in accordance with the objects and purposes of Redeemer University, the chaplain must have a deep-seated personal faith in Jesus Christ and be thoughtfully committed to the Vision and Mission of Redeemer University.

**Preferred Skills and Attributes**:
Ministry, pastoral, teaching and preaching experience Higher education experience is an asset Experience working with young adults, giving leadership, guidance, mentorship, or program development and implementation is essential Administrative capability is an asset Passionate commitment to the Reformed confessional tradition and ability to clearly and effectively articulate it for a multi-denominational audience

**Education, Training & Certifications**:

- A minimum of a master’s degree (Relevant degrees include divinity, theology, ministry studies, spiritual formation, Christian education, or other relevant education and experience)
- Previous experience in a pastoral work, campus ministry, youth ministry or higher education (University/College) environment is required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, Google Suite, Zoom

**Other Requirements**:

- Understanding of, and commitment to Redeemer University (mission, values and Reformed Christian identity) and ability to articulate its mission effectively and persuasively
- Participate in communal activity that supports and encourages a university campus environment where the holistic development of all persons embodies Christian principles that advance the mission and Christian character of Redeemer University
