**POSITION**:Senior Accountant

**DEPARTMENT/PROGRAM**:Finance

**REPORTS TO **:Financial Services Manager, Employment Services, Community Programs and Philanthropy. This position will be a member of the National Team, reporting to our London office. Will work remotely until further notice

**BASIC FUNCTION**:Reporting to the Financial Services Manager, Employment Services, Community Programs and Philanthropy, the Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting March of Dimes Canada and the Finance department through the accurate and timely reconciliation of General Ledger accounts. The Senior Accountant plays a vital role in ensuring accurate accounting of revenues and expenses to various March of Dimes Canada programs to allow accurate variance analysis against budgets and estimates.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Prepare accurate and timely reconciliations of the General Ledger accounts
- Review accounting transactions for data accuracy and perform monthly, quarterly, and yearly close with required adjustments in a timely manner
- Provide accurate accounting and reporting of revenue and expenses to the appropriate short cut keys
- Assist in preparing monthly financial package including budget vs. actual, variance analysis, etc.
- Investigate & identify discrepancies, root causes and prepare reconciliations of reports
- Act as a business partner, liaising between the finance department and all other functional and operational departments
- Assist Financial Services Manager in Budget/Forecast preparation, with month-end period procedures and other/cross functional ad-hoc duties
- Prepare reports in excel and in management reporter in the ERP, as required
- Identify opportunities for improvement or ways to increase efficiency
- Other duties, as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post-secondary education in Commerce and/or Business Administration specializing in Accounting or equivalent
- A minimum of 2 years of progressive hands-on accounting experience
- Excellent knowledge of Accounting practices & procedures
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solutions-oriented approach to challenges
- Experience using an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
- Advanced Excel skills including the ability to use Vlookup, pivot tables, macros, business intelligence (BI) tools, etc.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and handle a high volume of work
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Experience working in the not-for-profit sector considered an asset

**Salary Range**: $59,000 to $60,000.
