**Parks Seasonal Labourer**:
**FULL-TIME (January - October)**

The Town of Comox is seeking an energetic Labourer for the Parks Department. This is a permanent seasonal full-time position (CUPE Local 556) with a rate of pay of $27.72 per hour plus benefits, and includes a three month probationary period. The work period will be from ASAP to October 27, 2023 (Monday through Friday, 8 hours each day, 7:30am - 4:00pm), with annual return in late January of each year.

Working under the guidance of the Parks Chargehand and senior parks staff, the Parks Labourer will undertake responsible, professional work in the area of general park operations and maintenance. The scope of work includes working in a team environment, the demonstration and willingness to learn, and the ability to perform all tasks in a safe manner. Work requires a general understanding of common landscape management and care, general turf management, and safe operation and maintenance of a wide range of landscaping tools and equipment.

**Typical Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Turf Maintenance
- Trail maintenance and repair
- General landscaping including weeding and planting
- Sports field maintenance
- General irrigation
- General pruning
- Garbage collection, litter picking, and disposal
- Small tree maintenance (weeding, staking, mulching, fertilizing, etc.)
- Tree and plant watering
- Other duties as required

**Required Knowledge & Skills**:

- Completion of Grade 12
- Basic knowledge of landscaping and turf care;
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate with other staff and the public in a positive and courteous manner;
- Demonstrate the willingness to learn and keep informed of any operational and safety related requirements
- Physically fit and able to perform all duties in an outdoor environment; and
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
