**Overview**
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Dog Walker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and exercise for dogs while ensuring their safety and well-being. As a Dog Walker, you will be the face of our service, interacting with both pets and their owners, making excellent customer service skills essential.
**About us**:
The Common Dog is a small, local, dog training business servicing the Cowichan Valley for 5 years We currently offer private dog training, group training, and walk and train programs, as well as structured, on leash group walks. All of our current services are training focused, we prioritize each dog's training, behaviour and mindset. We work with all kinds of personalities and behaviours, calm and happy as well as anxious, nervous and fearful.
We are expanding our services and introducing Off Leash Adventure Pack Hikes
**Duties**:
- Hike on private property up to 8 dogs of various sizes and breeds, ensuring they receive adequate exercise and attention.
- Maintain a safe environment for the dogs during walks, being vigilant about potential hazards.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their dog's behavior, needs, and any concerns that may arise during walks.
- Keep accurate records of each walk, including duration, distance covered, and any notable observations about the dog’s behavior or health.
- Update owners on our scheduling app in regards To how the walk went and how their dog behaved
- Take photos and videos and upload them to our social media accounts.
- Uphold cleanliness by picking up after dogs during walks and maintaining a tidy work environment.
**Qualifications**:
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners and address their needs.
- Reliable vehicle to transport dogs in is required.
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record is required.
- Previous experience with dogs or in a pet care role is required. Working at a dog walker, kennel assistant, groomer, dog trainer, daycare attendant.
- Ability to handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments with confidence and care.
- Has an understanding of canine behaviour
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely arrivals for scheduled walks.
- Must be physically fit to manage the demands of hiking multiple dogs over varying distances.
- A genuine love for animals and commitment to their well-being is essential.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 - 20 per week
