The Manufacturing Manager directs and oversees all activities associated with manufacturing, so all safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost metrics are achieved, and customer’s delivery and quality expectations are meet.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

- Management of Manufacturing Direct Labour associates including hiring, employee development, performance appraisals, management, discipline, and dismissals
- Value Stream Leader for Manufacturing
- Maintain a safe work environment for all manufacturing associates, upholding all safety regulations
- In conjunction with Operations Mgr., develop Operational plans and strategies for people, processes and equipment
- Oversee consistent, efficient assembly of raw materials into finished products to meet customers’ needs
- Develops and improves processes to ensure Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Cost metrics are achieved
- Lead cross functional teams to research, plan and implement various continuous improvement projects to reduce waste, improve employee safety & ergonomics, and improve manufacturing system productivity
- Coordinate Demand forecast process to ensure timely output of Capacity Resource plan, Variance reports and Material Requirements Plan
- Review PFEP with Purchasing and work to eliminate problems, issues, and bottlenecks to ensure it is executed so components are purchased and onsite by required due dates
- Review daily / weekly production plans with Scheduler and work to eliminate problems, issues, and bottlenecks to ensure product is produced efficiently and by the required due dates
- Review training plans with Technical Lead to ensure manufacturing associates are trained and have an acceptable proficiency in all manufacturing processes
- Develop Manufacturing Capacity plan and work with HR & Operations Mgr. to execute
- Work with R&D to launch new products and improve the quality and manufacturability of existing products
- Works with internal and external team members to achieve customer requirements and OTIF, and provide direct involvement with customers to solve problems and achieve customer satisfaction
- Develop, execute, and oversee annual budgets for the Manufacturing value stream
- Develop and work to improve all Manufacturing KPIs and metrics; prepare and present Operational reports, as required
- Primary management contact with the union and participant in union negotiations
- Champions and coaches Manufacturing associates to make process improvements through positive encouragement and allocation of resources; ensures communications, training, and follow-up in new and amended policies and practices
- Management of all janitorial / grounds keeping contracts

*Other duties as required

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Electronic Technologist diploma or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- At least 10 years relevant experience in leading manufacturing assembly teams
- Strong mechanical/engineering aptitude
- Strong leadership skills and ability to effectively lead teams; maintain collegial working relationships with colleagues, managers, customers, and team members
- Demonstrated successful project management experience and acumen; Strong Project Management skills and results oriented achieving deliverables on time and meeting goals
- Self-starting and comfortable collaborating with diverse work teams
- Excellent communication skills including written, technical, and non-technical; oral and facilitating effective meetings including power point slide presentations and briefings (managing up and cross banding)
- Attention to detail; strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task under pressure and in deadline environments
- Strong computer skills with a variety of operational software systems (I.e. MS Suite, Excel, Visio, etc.)
- Must be able to manipulate equipment used in performance of tasks
- Other demands include but not limited to oral, written, and presentation/communications skills

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday

Supplemental pay types:
