Stores Supervisor

Under the general direction of the Deputy Chief of Support Services, the WFPS Stores Supervisor is responsible for managing the Stores Division which includes the inventory, purchasing, preparation of bid opportunities, specifications and awarding contracts for the economical and expeditious procurement of goods and services within the Department. This position manages the day-to-day office activities in Stores; establishes policies and procedures to ensure proper inventory management and determines all short and long term goals for the Stores Branch; and daily supervision of staff.
**As the **_Stores Supervisor_**_, _**you will**:
- Manages and coordinates all activities related to the inventory process of the Stores Unit of the Fire Paramedic Service
- Develop specifications and incorporate these into the bid opportunities to establish acquisition of goods and services for direct open market purchases
- Responsible for the financial accountability of the Branch and related duties
- Manages Stores Branch in accordance with applicable Collective Agreements, service and corporate policies, directives and guidelines and ensures effective communication is maintained
**Your education and qualifications include**:
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate or ability to acquire within six (6) months.
- Certification in at least one or more of the following designations:
- Certified Professional Purchasing
- Inventory logistics
- Procurement and Contract Management
- Production Inventory Management
- Related area relevant to the Stores Branch Operation
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience in similar positions managing a significant inventory by utilizing computerized systems.
- Experience supervising staff including mentoring and coaching, performance management and building capacity.
- Experience administering contracts, as well as financial management including financial planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting.
- Experience using relevant HRIS systems (Ex: PeopleSoft) for managing inventory is preferred.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements applicable to the area.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization, as well as outside agencies and the public.
- Organizational skills with the ability to work in a deadline driven environment and handle multiple complex issues concurrently in an effective manner.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and prepare concise reports and recommendations.
- Ability to communicate verbally in a clear, concise and professional manner to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to make sound decisions and recommendations including prioritizing work flows and ensuring that all daily staffing, operational and emergency situations are handled appropriately.
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to deal effectively with stressful conditions, while maintaining a professional conduct.
**Conditions of Employment**:

- The successful applicant to this position must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Full Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent), satisfactory to the employer.
- Willingness and ability to successfully complete additional training and/or certificates relevant to this position’s duties within specified timeframes, if requested by WFPS management.
