**The opportunity**:
Reporting to the Director, Advancement Marketing the Marketing Officer is a member of Marketing and Brand (M&B). The Marketing Officer position exists to support the vision, mission and priorities of the University of Manitoba and the assigned groups of clients made up from faculties and administrative units. The Marketing Officer plays a vital role in promoting and building the reputation of the university, its faculties, units, departments and senior administrators at the internal and local, regional and national level.

As a member of the M&B team, Marketing Officers focus on the marketing communications needs of areas of strategic importance to their client group and the University of Manitoba, including students, research, senior administration, alumni and philanthropy, and Bison Sports and active living.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Undergraduate degree in communications, marketing or other related specialization required.
- Four years of directly related client management experience and experience in integrated marketing communications setting required.
- Experience with philanthropic organizations is an asset.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience in the area of digital communications is required.
- Exceptional oral and written communications skills and a high level of creativity and problem-solving skills required.
- Must be a creative thinker with a proven track record of successful strategic communications planning and implementation.
- Must have exceptional leadership and relationship building skills.
- Must have strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize conflicting demands.
- Thorough knowledge of the procedures and techniques in the field of specialization is required.
- Must possess a strong understanding of advancement and the vital role it plays within a university.
- Solid understanding of print and digital communications platforms and ability to leverage in an integrated way to meet identified goals and objectives is required.
- Strong project management skills are required.
- Must possess a high degree of independence, diplomacy and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have the ability to manage broad range of marketing communications projects from concept to completion is required.
- Ability to make decisions and plan and control projects required.
- A proven track record in working with all levels of staff, including senior administration, external stakeholders and others is an asset.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
