**General** **Accountability**:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the incumbent is accountable for meeting and exceeding production and cost goals, as well as adhering strictly to the established budget designated to his/her plant.

**Position Requirements**:
**Nature and Scope**:
The Plant Superintendent has accountability for meeting the operational, safety and environmental guidelines and goals set forth by the company.

The Plant Superintendent is responsible for effective management through planning, delegation, organizing and control of his/her respective area.

In the area of planning, the incumbent must determine and allocate resources required to achieve and exceed production and cost goals as well as achieving budget objectives.

As an organizer, the incumbent is accountable for his/her plant operating budget, updating of existing procedures as well as the development of new operating procedures and training manuals.

In the area of control, the incumbent must ensure operating training requirements are achieved. This is done by providing effective leadership, obtaining competent staff through proper interviewing and selection of new employees, as well as always motivating existing staff and promoting a work atmosphere that fosters a positive HSE culture.

Safety is a major priority, and the incumbent is responsible for ensuring that safe working practices are used and maintained. Main programs that define the focus in the area of safe operation are COR, HSE-MS and Railway SMS and these programs must be utilized. These programs are to be audited annually and the incumbent is directly responsible for the corrective action plans.

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Determine and allocate resources to achieve and exceed budget objectives.
- Provide daily operating objectives, ensure payroll is properly completed and submitted.
- Review and update existing operating procedures and develop new operating procedures.
- Ensure that all personnel are well trained, competent, and versed in the plant procedures, HSE-MS and environmental guidelines and information is completed and submitted.
- Provide effective leadership by ensuring that safety, housekeeping, and work performance standards are maintained.
- Interview and select all new employees and ensure that employees are properly trained to carry out their duties in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ensure that Shift Supervisors maintain a productive environment through motivation and direction of the work force and the proper administration of the collective agreement.
- Interact regularly with the Operation Manager and keep him/her informed of site activities.
- Attending and participating in all required Manager, HSE Incident review, JHSC, etc. meetings.
- Interact regularly with your counterpart within your customer's company.
