Union Compliance Specialist

Brock is seeking a Union Compliance Accountant to oversee the administration of collective bargaining agreements for all union employees and the respective benefit contributions / deductions. The role is based on-site at our Nisku, AB, Canada and may require travel.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensure compliance with terms of over 35 collective bargaining agreements spanning multiple regional operations and operating companies.
- Review and approve monthly deduction remittance and benefit contribution reporting processed by staff members.
- Ensure the timely and accurate processing of deduction remittance and benefit contribution reporting for over 1,000 employees.
- Handle union audits (scheduling, document gathering, findings review, discrepancy dispute, etc.)
- Periodic review of record accuracy for union employees.
- Review movement of employees and work with other departments to determine impact on union deduction withholding and benefit processing.
- Monthly reconciliation of remittance to general ledger

**Skills and Experience**

- Requires business knowledge and acumen typically gained through a bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field. - Change to Business Degree with a focus in accounting or finance
- Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite skills with an emphasis on Excel required.
- Benefit administration experience in a unionized environment a strong plus.
- The ability to handle a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and crucial deadlines is essential.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large volume of data
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proven time management skills, strong analytical skills, and demonstrated proactive approach to problem solving.
- Self-starter with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to work in a team environment.
