**Job description**

**Permanent Full Time** **Position: Forklift Operator**- Wage Range $27.50 - $30.00 Depending on Experience

This is a Union Position with a 3-month probation period

Responsible for accurately receiving, storing incoming shipments of Industrial Steel and Pipe. Handling/moving the steel from one processing area to another, as well as accurately loading trucks for outgoing shipments. Some packaging, strapping, and wrapping of loads may be required.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Forklift operator certification
- At Least 5 years of experience driving forklift
- Experience handing large and/or long loads an asset
- High School Degree or equivalent required
- Must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods
- Must be able to twist, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level and crouch on a frequent basis.
- Must be able to use proper lifting techniques.
- Must have experience with use of over head cranes
- Must have experience handling coated steel
- The ability to follow directions with emphasis on safety is extremely important.
- Must be able to meet deadlines with tight scheduling requirements.
- Must be able to shift priorities easily.
- Must be able to use hands and feet simultaneously and for repetitive movements.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal
- Must have the ability to work overtime in support of the department needs
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized
- Demonstrated ability to be pro-active in thought and action
- Strong organizational skills
- Analytical with a strong attention to detail
- Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
- Willing to pitch in and help on last minute projects or assist team members
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Comfortable with numbers and basic mathematical skills
- Has a demonstrated strong work ethic, and reliability

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $27.50-$30.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime
- Weekend availability

Supplemental pay types:

- Overtime pay
