**OVERVIEW**

The Electrical Systems Specialist is responsible for the integrity and safe operation of the mill wide communication systems and mill wide fire and security systems. This includes but is not limited to the required certification as Field Safety Representative (FSR) to hold the electrical permit as recognized by Technical Safety BC. This position will act as liaison with other regulatory authorities as required, and have extensive knowledge of the overall mill operations, along with any new equipment and technology used in the industry in its relation to electrical systems that support the mill operations.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Process & Technology
- Accountable to Technical Safety BC as Field Safety Representative and maintains site electrical permit.
- Thorough knowledge of overall mill operations and new industry equipment/technology.
- Electrical Systems Integrity - Assist & coordinate integrity of:

- Mill Power Systems (main and area transformers, power distribution & motor control centers) and power system protection relays.
- Mill Power System Protection Relays
- Mill Communication and Fire/Security Systems (fire detection, radio, security, evacuation)
- Electrical Systems Maintenance Support - Troubleshoot resources and coordinate as assigned
- Project Support -Participate as assigned to ensure E/I safety aspects in project scope, design concept and interface with engineering on capital projects, studies and millwide E/I systems.
- Logistics for trailer/ washdown stations for annual shutdowns, major projects, emergency work as assigned.
- Carry out all activities ensuring compliance with Howe Sound policies, WorksafeBC, Technical Safety BC, CSE and all other governing regulations are met and adhered to with personal actions and equipment performance.
- Contribute to, and maintain, a professional work environment to encourage provision of an effective, quality service by the team while adhering to Company Labor Relations Policies.
- Establish challenging and achievable personal performance measures through KPIs that contribute to change initiatives and their effective implementation in the work environment.
- Develop relationships and work effectively with Operations, Maintenance and Engineering.
- Ensuring Measured Cost Reductions are realized to plan.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
- Valid and current Class “A” Electrical license in the Province of British Columbia.
- Minimum of ten (10) Years experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
- BSc Electrical or Red Seal Ticket in either Electrical or Instrumentation.
- Maintenance or Engineering experience in pulp & paper mill or mining processing plant with involvement in maintenance functions, research, investigation and reporting is desirable.
- 1-2 years supervisory experience. Preferably in an industrial, unionized environment.
- Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and prioritize jobs.
- Must possess effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
