**About Us**:
The Borderline Personality Disorder Society of British Columbia (BPDBC) is a _**nonprofit charitable organization**_. Our mission is to provide education and support for people living with borderline personality disorder (BPD), their family members and friends; to increase awareness to the community at large throughout BC; and to promote research about BPD. The Society was founded in 2012 with the goal of creating awareness of the stigma that exists around BPD, educating the public on up-to-date information on BPD, and supporting the BPD community to live a life experienced as worth living through peer support and evidence-based skills groups. We offer weekly peer-led support groups, accessible Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills groups, awareness presentations, and system navigation. The BPDBC provides an anti-oppressive, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed approach to supporting our community. We are a passionate and collaborative team dedicated to filling the gaps in service for people living with BPD and their loved ones.
**Role Overview**:
We provide full administrative support, including referrals, an online platform to store charts, and billing assistance, allowing you to focus on delivering impactful therapeutic services. The work you do with us will positively affect the lives of young people with BPD and their families located in the Capital Region District, as part of an inspiring and respectful workplace.
**Responsibilities**:
- Screen potential group participants through an online survey; conduct virtual intake assessments; select participants for the group; complete consent forms; inform applicants
- Prepare to deliver the weekly curriculum for the group sessions by reviewing the DBT Skills Manual for Adolescents and meeting with a clinical consultant
- Co-lead 26 in-person group sessions on one weekday evening (specific day to be determined)
- Adhere to the DBT treatment model for adolescents with BPD and co-occurring disorders
- Maintain professional documentation (e.g., assessments, case notes) in the confidential server
- Participate in weekly team consultations and supervision, as needed
- Establish and maintain professional alliances with community partners and service providers
- Provide case management as needed while maintaining client and team communication
- Administer pre/mid/post-test surveys to clients to track therapeutic outcomes
- Attend periodic meetings with the BPDBC executive team to provide program updates and progress, administration, and discuss approaches to clinical intervention
**Skills and Abilities**:
- Passionate about supporting adolescents with BPD or BPD traits, as well as their families, through compassionate care
- Strong understanding of BPD, with a solid understanding of developmental factors in assessing and treating BPD in adolescents, and a strong commitment to reducing stigma
- Proficient in trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, gender-diverse, and culturally sensitive approaches to therapy
- Aligned with the mission and values of BPDBC, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to upholding its principles
- Experienced in working with diverse communities, engaging individuals from various backgrounds who present a wide range of concerns
- Strong organizational and time management skills, capable of effectively prioritizing tasks and managing workload
- Empathetic and skilled in building trust, rapport, and therapeutic relationships, balanced with strong clinical acumen
- Collaborative team player, who enjoys working in an innovative environment, while also thriving as an independent therapist committed to continuous learning
- Excellent communicator, able to effectively engage with senior management and team members to address client needs and ensure timely delivery of DBT programming
**Qualifications and Experience**:
- Must be registered as a Psychologist (R.Psych), Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) or Registered Social Worker (RSW or RCSW), in good standing within British Columbia, _OR_ must be a registered student in an accredited graduate program in Clinical Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or another human services field. Preference will be given to those with a Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields
- Minimum one-year clinical experience working with adolescents who have BPD, severe emotion dysregulation, and/or complex mental health challenges
- Knowledge and experience in group facilitation with people with complex mental health challenges
- Training in DBT, both through didactics and hands-on experience
- Be willing to provide in-person only services in Victoria, British Columbia
