Inspector, Field Operations Northwest

The Opportunity

The AER’s Compliance & Liability Management (CLM) branch is currently recruiting for the position of Inspector to join our team in Field Operations Northwest. The team is currently looking to fill two vacant positions: one permanent inspector position, and one 12-month limited term inspector position, with potential to become permanent. Although many different backgrounds will be considered, the skill sets currently most needed on the team are:
- Environmental regulatory compliance, including:
- Public Lands Act _compliance - site preparation and maintenance of surface lands-
- Water Crossings /
- _Water Act_ compliance-
- Emissions Monitoring (OGI/FLIR Camera Operation, Directive 060 Compliance)What your day-to-day will look like:
- Conduct and support inspections on operations/activities within the AER’s jurisdiction by preparing inspection plans, collecting and analyzing information to determine compliance, and performing follow up action as required to promote and compel compliance from Regulated parties- Respond to incidents and stakeholder complaints. Support the resolution of complaints between AER stakeholders- Communicate and consult with industry regarding areas of concern- Support provincial teams as needed to develop and mould proactive inspection programs and ensure the flow of information between provincial teams and field centre teams- Contribute to provincial initiatives or assignments related to operational needs, as well as regulatory and technical issues as appropriate. Contribute towards creating and maintaining a positive and collaborative working environment

What we’re looking for in you:
- Diploma in environmental sciences, engineering or other related fields with a minimum of 6+ years in regulatory, field operations, or other related experience- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with the ability to prioritize work based on risk and value, with a good knowledge of related experience- Pre-placement Medical required and Driver’s Abstract required- Possess a fully valid class 5 driver’s license along with a positive driving record- Must be able to conduct typical Oil & Gas field work, including driving prolonged distances, climbing stairs, ladders, etc., walking around industrial sites in all conditions, walking into remote locations, and ability to work in all weather conditions- The following are considered an asset but can be provided upon hire: Standard First Aid, H2S Alive, ICS 200- This role has a business requirement to work from Grande Prairie- Some overnight travel may be required on occasion (several times/year)- Approximately 60% field work/40% office work
