The **Veterinary Emergency Clinic** located in the heart of Downtown Toronto has exciting an exiting opportunity for an RVT to provide additional support & monitoring for patients recovering from a general anesthetic or sedated procedures for all services.

Job Description: Assume responsibility for the care of patients who are undergoing a procedure in cooperation with the specialty department’s Technician assigned to their procedure.
- Assess caseload for the day and solicit rounds from appropriate departments/Technicians/Floor Mgrs
- TPR patients prior to procedure
- Prior to procedures, place IV catheters, bloodwork collection/processing, begin fluid therapy
- Post-anesthesia nursing care for all patients, including - monitoring, recovery and pain assessments, as per orders
- Work with ACAs to ensure patients are walked, fed, kept clean and comfortable, incision sites iced, etc.
- Dispense medication as needed
- Discharge patients (working with the primary service Technician)
- Transfer/Round patients to Treatment Technicians or ICU at end of shift
- Assist ER with short procedures, anesthetic monitoring if available (Sedated rads, blocked cats, wound repair, etc)
- Perform drug count daily
- Restock narcotics as needed with Floor Managers
- Work independently and collaboratively, and avoid toxic behaviour that negatively affects morale
- Other duties, as assigned

Other qualifications include:

- RVT Status is required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Passion for animal care and professional team building
- Ability to work independently and in a team based environment
- Reliable and punctual

**Salary**: $25.00-$39.00 per hour
