Patent Paralegal

Responsibilities include:
- Managing patent docket including docket deadlines and maintaining the integrity of docket data
- Assisting with preparing patent filings/PCTs and industrial designs
- Reviewing incoming correspondence from CIPO and foreign associates and assisting in preparing reporting letters to clients
- Maintaining, organizing and updating docket system of due dates for action and follow up
- Docketing and preparing office action instructions for review by agents and lawyers and lodging for filing to the patent offices
- Sending weekly prosecution reminders to clients which are generated through the docketing software
- General administrative tasks including file management, precedent maintenance and entry of tariff codes and time
- Completing status checks
- Coordinating transfers of files and appointment of MLT Aikins as agent
- File opening and data validation in all operational programs and databases
- Processing internal transfer of files between associates firms
Qualifications include
- Knowledge of Patrix IP Helpware is an asset
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Previous experience in intellectual property, specifically in areas of patents and industrial designs
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
