**There is one casual Dishwasher position available starting on June 24, 2024, working various hours per week.**
**Your Role**:
As part of the Food Services’ team, ensures that all dishes, glasses, silverware, pots, and pans are cleaned according to public health regulations and put away in a thorough and organized manner. Maintains the confidentiality of information related to the residents and their families. Works intentionally from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive perspective to further create a sense of belonging at the Village.
**Tasks**:
- Ensures that all dishes, pots, glassware, and utensils are washed on the proper rack based on public health regulations and subsequently put away.
- Sets up dish stations, including dish machines and sinks.
- Cleans stainless steel in dishwasher.
- Ensure that silverware bin and pot sink are full of water and chemicals for soaking. Changes water regularly throughout the shift.
- Ensures that dishwasher chemicals are stocked and communicates when an order is needed.
- Removes garbage, food bins and recycling and disposes in outdoor bins.
- Washes and sanitizes kitchen carts, and garbage and recycling bins daily.
- Gathering dishes from the dining room during each of the services must be done a minimum of twice as to not overload carts and bins thus reducing breakage.
- Sweeps and mops kitchen floors daily or as required (i.e., grease spill) to ensure Public Health standards are maintained, and staff are not at risk of injury.
- Washing and drying of walls, all stainless steel and machinery in dish area.
- Records wash and rinse temperatures at designated times.
- Reports any issues with dishwashing equipment in a timely manner.
- Assists in the overall cleanliness in the kitchen.
- Assists cooks in peeling produce, as per the instructions, as required.
- Assists with Martin’s events when needed in addition to regular workflow.
**Your Talents and Experience**:
A valid Safe Food Handling Certificate an asset. Ability to organize, prioritize, meet deadlines and problem solve as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Ability to give and take direction and work with minimum of supervision. Must demonstrate empathy for and understanding of the needs of seniors, their families and the professionals engaged in their care. Passionate, aware, and willing to learn about antiracism, anti-oppression, and equity.
