MacEwan University is seeking an individual for a full-time continuing opportunity as a Tech IV with the IT Operations department.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Delivering Tier 3 support for incidents escalated from Tier 1 & 2. This is the highest level of support provided within the department. Solutions may require consultation with hardware or software vendor support.
- Troubleshooting and resolving complex technology problems, generally involving several integrated or related components in a single technical environment. Problems spanning multiple technical environments are escalated to senior team members/leads from those departments or require the engagement of members of other teams.
- Developing updating and patching strategies according to current best practices, and client needs.
- Reviewing and deploying new service packs, hot fixes, updates, and vendor-supplied patches to IT infrastructure to ensure stability and security.

**SKILLS**
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the following technologies:

- Infrastructure hardware, including servers, storage devices and network switches.
- Datacenter and communication room infrastructure, including racks, cabling, UPS, power, and cooling.
- Server virtualization technology and infrastructure.
- Basic IP networking.
- Network services, including DNS, DHCP, and NTP.
- Operating systems, including one or more of the following: Microsoft Windows, OSX and UNIX/Linux.
- Shell or command line programming and scripting.
- Cloud services, including but not limited to SaaS, IaaS, PaaS.
- Endpoint management and security.
- ITIL processes and procedures.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Analytical problem-solving skills.
- Good business and technical writing skills.
- The ability to work effectively and maintain composure in pressure situations during major IT service emergencies.
- The ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies.
- The ability to manage and prioritize multiple ongoing activities on a regular basis.
- The ability to manage change effectively.
- Self-motivation and be able to independently resolve complex problems using current job knowledge.
- The ability to be decisive and able to make educated decisions.
- The ability to research data, and available resources to determine outcomes or best course of action.
- The ability to participate in a team environment, promote team cohesiveness and group synergy to bring forward new ideas and make concepts a reality.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- A minimum of a Post secondary degree or diploma in IT related discipline.
- ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) foundations certification is considered an asset.
- A minimum of four years’ experience working in a complex multi-site IT operations environment.
- Experience participating in project-related activities in a complex technical environment.
- Experience in dealing effectively with technical and non-technical clients.
- Equivalences may be considered.
