We are looking for a person that is passionate about engaging others with meaningful interactions within their community and highlighting their skills and potential for success. Through a holistic approach, you aid others in pursing their personal interests by creating a safe and engaging environment.

A kind, active, and motivated man in his mid 20s who lives in Oshawa, is looking to engage with an interactive, easy going community connector who can spend time with them exploring the community and pursing valuable roles and interests. Current goals for this person centers around attending literacy classes and having assistance during homework and developing literacy skills. This person is also looking for someone to motivate and accompany them in achieving their fitness goals. This may mean going to the gym together and participating in other exercises during time.

This position would be best suited for a person who is looking for flexible and reliable work hours. In this role, you will support this person by spending time with him two times a week going out in the community (10 hours a week total). Specific hours and days worked can be scheduled in advance by mutual agreement.

Key Requirements:
1. Must have valid G Driver’s class license and have own vehicle for transportation to and from activities

2. Completion of Vulnerable Sector Police check

3. Committed to respectful and strength based, person-centred approaches

4. Committed to holistic health, wellness, and fitness

5. Person centered-have a good understanding of community resources and events in the Durham Region

6. Patience and capacity to do casual tutoring for basic to intermediate literacy practice

Hourly Rate:

- $23/hr

This position works directly with a family and is not considered an employee of Durham Association for Family Resources and Support
