JOB OVERVIEW
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Community Development Leadership
- Develop and promote intercultural activities that encourage community connections, focusing on relationship
- building and skill building for local residents prioritizing newcomers and Indigenous community members.
- Ensure community members and partners are involved in designing, running and making decisions on projects.
- Manage staff and contractors to lead community development programming to fulfil grant requirement and in alignment with the Community Development Theory of the Change and CNH strategic plan.
- Develop relationships of trust and mutual respect with key stakeholders to strengthen the arts in the Joyce-Collingwood Neighbourhood.
- Works in collaboration with multiple departments.
- Actively participate in identifying, planning, and executing future programs that benefit community and work closely with the Director on identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
- Act as the CNH representative on the Collingwood Days Committee responsible for planning and organizing Collingwood Days in collaboration with partner organizations, CNH staff, and volunteers.
- Identify the strengths and assets of community members in order to support community growth and sustainability.
- Supporting individual artists and community groups to build capacity through connecting, mobilizing, advocating, and accessing resources.
- Advocate for system change and the arts in the RC neighbourhood.
- Ensure all programs and workspaces follow CNH policies and procedures.
Grants and Financial Management
- Develop and monitor an annual operating budget.
- Assist CD Director to manage cashflow and reimbursements as needed.
- Fundraise through diverse revenue streams (partnerships, donations, grants, foundations).
- Fulfill grant agreement requirements, including meeting targets, data collection, evaluation, ongoing communication, and reporting.
- Monitor program finances, maintain financial records, and implement an operating budget for the programming supervised (System Change; Arts, Culture, and Celebrations and Literacy).
Administration & Human Resources
- Complete CNH-related administrative tasks, including updating lists, sharing event details and working with CNH operations staff.
- Ensure CNH procedures are followed closely when recruiting volunteers and staff, including the completion of volunteer registration forms and Criminal Record Searches.
- Oversee the timely authorization of payroll and other HR and administrative forms.
- Manage staff to maintain program statistics and volunteer/participant information.
- Lead hiring committees to recruit, select, and onboard staff and contractors following CNH and CD Department onboarding processes.
- Liaise with CNH HR and payroll to manage any Human Resource issues.
- Support individual staff member growth and development and team cohesiveness.
- Provide regular direction and mentorship to staff via regular group and 1-on-1 meetings.
- Ability to join one CNH internal Committee
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education/certification in a community development-related or arts discipline or a combination of work experience in a community development and arts settings.
- Experience working in the arts, arts management, and celebration programming.
- Experience and knowledge of the needs of newcomers to develop and support newcomers in building community connections
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects independently and collaboratively;
- Strong financial, funding, budgeting, reporting, and evaluation management skills
- Organization and time management skills
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral language skills
- Feels comfortable doing outreach work and connecting with new people
- Understanding of interculturalism and prioritizing diverse populations
