**Qualifications**:

- Baccalaureate degree in a related discipline
- successful completion of education in Human Resources, Industrial relations or other related program
- Human Resources Management Certificate required
- Labour management experience required
- Experience in leading local collective bargaining and negotiation preferred- Completion of a Leadership/Management course preferred

**Skill, Ability and Experience**:

- Labour management experience required
- Demonstrated ability to build, foster and maintain constructive relationships with clients and union partners
- Demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiation settlements in a complex union environment with multiple unions.
- Expert knowledge of relevant Ontario employment legislation
- Expert knowledge of labour relations processes (e.g. grievance, mediation, arbitration and negotiation) preferred
- Advanced knowledge of human resource principles (e.g. progressive discipline, investigations, benefits, recruitment) preferred
- Demonstrated skills in day-to-day problem solving (patient safety, staffing, complaint resolution, conflict resolution, fiscal budget and performance management planning, change management, professional performance management, accountability and risk management) required
- Ability to lead and implement change effectively with a key focus on patient safety and quality required
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary and interprofessional collaborative care team required
- Demonstrated ability to promote staff development, quality improvement programs and patient and family centred care required
- Ability to use related information systems tools (Meditech, Staff Scheduling, MS Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Ability to deal with complex, confidential and sensitive issues required
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and judgement required

**Principal Duties**:

- All management positions require strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills, as well as extensive clinical experience
- Actively initiates alternative dispute resolution (ADR) principles related to employee conflict management.
- Works directly with legal council on formal dispute resolution for grievance, arbitration and Human Rights Tribunal meetings.- Using highly developed problem-solving skills, conflict management and negotiation skills, facilitates the resolution of labour and employment issues with employees, leaders and union representatives.
- Responsible for negotiating, interpreting, implementing and ensuring compliance with policies and collective agreements for both union and non-union employees.
- Oversees grievance meetings and labour management meetings
- Oversees investigations involving workplace incidents and performance management
- Supports responding to and resolving grievances at the initial step, including gathering and summarizing information.
- Makes recommendations on workplace policies, procedures and interpretation of collective agreements
- Coach and support leaders on labour relations related issues
- Other related duties as assigned
