**About Us**:
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is one of four departments in the Faculty of Engineering. Faculty and staff in the department support and foster the educational and research pursuits of undergraduate and graduate engineering students, while providing the best student experience.

**Responsibilities**:
**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- Master’s Degree focused in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology; or relevant experience and a 4-year University Bachelor's Degree with specialization in Atmospheric Science; or relevant experience and a 4 year Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Engineering with a Diploma/Certificate in Meteorology

**Experience**:
- 3 years' experience planning, preparing, and executing projects, collecting, and analyzing data, and preparing results and reports
- Experience in the interpretation of meteorological data (e.g., weather radar imagery)
- Experience monitoring and forecasting weather and severe storms preferred
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to interpret satellite and radar imagery and to produce tornado and hail forecasts across Canada
- Willingness to travel (including ground and air transportation); must have a valid passport in respect of all visa requirements
- Ability to prioritize and organize a fluctuating workload and willingness to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the activities of the project (i.e. evenings and weekends during the severe weather season and as required during damage surveys)
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS and regulations with an ability to adhere to legislated safety requirements and Western safety policies
- Project management skills to manage projects simultaneously from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy with an ability to update, manage and extract data from a variety of research sources and databases
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users
- Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions
