**Recreationist, Adult Day Program, Uxbridge**
**(Full-Time)**

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative team member to join our Adult Day Program staff. Reporting to the Adult Day Program Supervisor and supported by the Adult Day Program Coordinator in day-to-day decision making, the Recreationist is responsible for implementing the Adult Day Program services and participates effectively as a member of the Community Care Durham staff team.

Working from our multiple locations in Durham Region (Ajax-Pickering, Clarington, Whitby and Uxbridge); Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Planning, implementing, and evaluating social recreation programming to meet clients’ needs
- Assisting with activities of daily living, including client transfers and hygiene
- Completing client progress notes, assisting with medications and documentations, and recording updates in communication book
- Participating in team meetings to provide input and suggestions on changes to internal procedures/practices, review agency/policy updates, work towards ADP goals, review client care needs
- Providing support to clients and caregivers
- Supporting the current ADP COVID -19 Hybrid model (Zoom programming, telephone checks, porch visits, deliver activity kits, etc.)
- Additional duties and projects as assigned and promoting CCD services

**Qualifications required**:

- Post-secondary diploma in social recreation, gerontology or a health-related field and experience in adult day programming and/or community-based services
- Current Emergency First Aid Certificate CPR C & AED required
- Good knowledge of the principles and practices of community respite or adult day programs
- A solid working knowledge of Alzheimer’s Disease/Dementia processes and a holistic approach to recreation strategies, including the Montessori methods for dementia
- Ability to assist with one-person lifts and transfers of clients in and out of chairs or on and off the toilet seat. Clients can weight on average 175 lbs (bona fide occupational requirement)
- Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check or Enhanced Police Information Check
- Sensitivity to adults with needs related to aging, physical and/or mental health
- Adhere to all safety protocols including COVID-19 safety practices and all full vaccinations that align with current public health regulations where medically able in accordance with our Immunization Policy
- Must work in a safe manner and promote the health and safety of all staff, volunteers, clients, and the community as outlined within CCD policies

**Compensation**:Starting at $22.55 per hour; three (3) weeks’ vacation per year of work (pro-rated to hours worked); 11 paid (including stat) holidays; health, insurance, and pension benefits when eligible.
