Accounts Payable Clerk (Temporary)

Richmond School District operates 38 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, alternate programs, continuing education and a number of additional facilities. The district enrolls approximately 21,000 students (K-12) and employs over 3000 dedicated staff.
This position involves the accurate processing of invoices and other related documents according to departmental procedures to ensure payment is made within agreed terms. This position is under the supervision of the Accountant. Work is performed according to established routines and procedures with mínimal direction.
**Major Duties and Responsibilities**
(This is not an exhaustive list of the duties to be performed.)
- Sorts and matches invoices and related documents to purchase orders. Verifies information, calculates taxes and totals, and assigns codes to invoices for payment.
- Reconciles invoice statements to payment records, identifies outstanding items and makes payments or adjustments as required.
- Responds to inquiries by providing information, investigating discrepancies, and making adjustments as necessary.
- Sorts and date stamps department's daily correspondence and purchase orders.
- Maintains several separate filing systems such as employee expenses, supplier expenses and purchase orders.
- May provide relief at the switchboard.
- Performs other job related duties of comparable importance, difficulty and responsibility as required.
**Required Qualifications**
- Grade 12 including or supplemented by Business Education courses and one (1) year relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of standard bookkeeping principles, practices and terminology.
- Ability to organize workload and complete assignments with mínimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of computer software applicable to the position.
- Ability to compute with accuracy and speed, in order to reconcile and balance invoices.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
This position is in the bargaining unit, with an hourly rate of pay of $25.21.
**This is a 35 hour per week temporary position until October 23, 2023 or until return of incumbent.**
