Speech-language Pathologist

**Position Summary**
The Speech-Language Pathologist provides evaluation and treatment to patients with communication and swallowing disorders.
You will be a key participant on the FHT team of interdisciplinary healthcare professionals and collaborating community agencies. Using your high quality skills, you will be involved with the development and delivery of our programs.
Administratively, you will report to the Executive Director of this not-for-profit corporation. Your professional and clinical role is working together with the physicians and the multi-disciplinary team to provide care to the 27,000 patients enrolled with the Team.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Perform screening, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and follow-up for patients with hearing, communication and related disorders in accordance with Speech/Language Pathology standards and scope of clinical practice.
- Plan, implement, and record patient treatment programs in collaboration with members of the interdisciplinary team and patient/family goals, and communicate progress within the EMR.
- Advise members of the interdisciplinary team of significant changes in patient’s communicative status and/or any difficulties encountered in administering treatment, discharge planning, or follow-up.
- Provide information regarding patient’s communication disorder and subsequent treatment program(s) to family and caregivers as required and assist the patient’s family and caregivers in their interpretation of the communication disorder and the patient’s treatment program.
- Maintain knowledge of current developments in Speech/Language Pathology.
- Participate in team meetings to evaluate program effectiveness and discuss patient cases.
- Develop and utilize written and audio-visual teaching aids to facilitate the learning process.
- Contribute to and participate in overall Family Health Team planning, programming and evalution as required.
- Act as a resource to family physicians, residents and other health professionals.
- Maintain confidentiality of personnel and patient information.
**Skills, Knowledge Requirements, Computer Skills**
- Basic computer skills (e.g. MS Office)
- Willingness to learn electronic medical record systems
**Language Skills**
- English required
**Education and Specific Job Requirements**
- Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent required.
- Registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) required.
- Demonstrated experience in taking initiative and program development in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to professional development.
- Able to function with mínimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively with all members of the health care team.
- Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively and be flexible in an active work environment.
**Relevant Experience**
- Two (2) years of experience is preferred.
- Experience in interpreting the results of videofluoroscopic swallowing assessments preferred.
- Experience in professional education, presentation and in-services preferred.

Pay: $69,000.00-$76,000.00 per year
