**The Opportunity**
Mosaic is seeking **Legal Counsel** to work out of our Nanaimo office on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

**The Role**
Reporting to the VP, Legal & Corporate Secretary, the Legal Counsel will offer internal legal advice encompassing various corporate and commercial matters, including commercial contracts, and provide support to the VP, Legal & Corporate Secretary in multiple areas of law.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Provide legal assessments, interpretations and recommendations on corporate, commercial, contractual, real estate, environmental, natural resources and regulatory matters;
- Perform independent legal research and analysis of statutes, regulations and case law;
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of legal agreements relating to commercial contracts, employment of contractors and service providers, real estate matters and interests in land and data licensing;
- Oversee the work of external legal advisors; and
- Support the ongoing consultation and liaison with First Nations, communities, and other stakeholders.

**Required Skills and Experience**
- Bachelor’s Degree and LLB/JD;
- Minimum 5 + years of Canadian Bar experience;
- Member in good standing with the Law Society of BC is preferred, but not required;
- Expertise in Commercial Real Estate law in BC is strongly preferred;
- Experience in dealing with federal and provincial Crown agencies is preferred but not required;
- Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail;
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels; and
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

**Compensation**
The base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $170,000, annually. Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, and education.
