Qualifications:
- Must be a current Dalhousie student
- Be self-directed and have the ability to work independently
- Demonstrated experience/interest leading and/or participating in environmental initiatives
- Excellent teamwork and the ability to work successfully with others
- Experience leading groups and organizing volunteers is an asset
- Interest in growing a culture of sustainability within the Dalhousie community
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Helping university and community outreach (e.g. partnerships with the Office of Sustainability,
College of Sustainability, Dalhousie Urban Garden, other universities, etc.)
- Help develop policies alongside the Policy Manager relevant to DSUSO, including but not
limited to an issues policy on sustainability and climate action for the DSU
- Work alongside the Policy Manager, Food Commissioner, and the rest of the team to collaborate
with student societies, advocate for environmental issues, and provide support to existing campus
initiatives.
- Responsible for completing DSU society training and understanding DSU policies
- Coordinate and recruit volunteers for tabling, events, etc. (e.g., society fair)
- Take on new initiatives and/or issue-based campaigns to encourage sustainability on campus and
in our communities alongside the Policy & Operations manager
This is a paid part-time position for 6 hours per week. The position starts in May 2024 and the end
date is April 30th, 2025.
