**How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team**:
Under the guidance and direction of the Supervisor, Construction Projects, and reporting directly to the Site Supervisor and Lead Hand, Field Staff are responsible for providing general labour and equipment operation support in the delivery of construction, maintenance and restoration projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, daily support of project site implementation and providing excellent client services. Additionally, this position requires interaction with the public through relaying information such as trail closures and various types of work taking place that may impact them.

Specific knowledge and experience are required in the implementation of projects that:

- Protect, restore, and enhance natural cover, ecosystem function and wildlife habitat on shorelines, streams, wetlands, valley lands, meadows, and forests.
- Mitigate erosion hazards and maintain existing erosion control structures to protect public greenspace, park amenities, and municipal infrastructure.
- Create and maintain trails and other park amenities to provide optimal public access, use and exploration of natural spaces and green transportation connections

Overall, this position plays an integral role in the delivery of TRCA projects working toward healthy rivers and shorelines, greenspace and biodiversity, and sustainable communities in TRCA’s jurisdiction.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Safe operation and maintenance of landscape construction, arboricultural, horticultural, rough carpentry, and agricultural equipment.
- Equipment use includes, but is not limited to, articulated loaders, vibratory drum rollers, track carriers, skid-steers, tractors with a wide variety of attachments, and PTO driven implements, chippers, chainsaws, UTVs, G-licenced trucks with trailer, and a variety hand and power tools.
- Provide general labour support in the following programs:

- Creation, repair, enhancement, and restoration of wildlife habitat, active and passive use greenspace, including multi-use granular and paved trails and park amenities, vegetated buttresses, armour stone and mechanically stabilized earth walls, stream banks, shorelines, and wetlands.
- Land Care Maintenance, including fencing, boardwalks, kiosks, natural surface trails and clearing of existing paths.
- Prepare vehicles, equipment and materials as determined by immediate supervisor for daily site requirements.
- Perform circle checks on assigned vehicles and equipment, report any issues, and lock out / tag out equipment as required.
- Participate in hazard assessments and daily ‘tailgate safety talks’ as related to changes in types of work and site conditions and take required action to mitigate identified hazards.
- Other duties as assigned.

**What will you need to succeed**:

- High School Diploma
- Current, valid Class G Driver’s License
- Minimum 1 year of experience in implementation tasks in areas of specialization
- All activities are expected to be performed in a safe manner, in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, along with Corporate Safety policies, procedures and programs. In addition, all necessary personal protective equipment must be used and maintained in good condition.
- Competence with laser level and basic surveying skills, if applicable to the area of specialization.
- Demonstrated ability in the safe operation and maintenance of equipment related to program specialization
