**Position Overview**
As the **Yard Attendant** you will provide Yard operation services to all external customers. The Yard Attendant will develop a thorough knowledge of all Black Dirt Company products; and an exceptional understanding of Yard operations.

**Your Responsibilities**:

- Work with customers/contractors/employees loading products using various types of loaders and attachments
- Work with suppliers unloading delivered products
- Open and close Yard for appropriate business hours
- Ensure Yard is tidy (overflow on bins, scale, displays, etc)
- Ensure Shop/Wash Bay are clean (sweep, organize, etc.)
- Operate/maintain and inspect common shop tools
- Perform inspections and maintenance on equipment & tools
- Report any issues or concerns to Yard Supervisor
- Comply with company PPE requirements
- Report Incidents/Illnesses, submit completed forms to Safety Manager
- Conduct Daily Loader Inspections; report major deficiencies to Manager Yard Operations
- Maintain a clean and safe workplace (shop/wash bay, loaders and Yard) to minimize hazards; report hazards to Manager Yard Operations, help correct or delegate any deficiencies

**Qualifications**:

- Ability to assess customer need quickly and execute accordingly
- Ability to remain calm when operating loader in handling multiple customer requests
- Ability to lift more than 50 lbs in product when serving customers bagged product, sod, pails, hardscapes, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Great time management skills and a strong work ethic
- Self-motivated and enjoys a fast-paced work environment
- Punctual and dependable with a can-do attitude
- Experience with various types of loaders and attachments is a requirement; loading aggregate into customer vehicles, trailers, tandems, etc. will be considered an asset

- **Class 5 Drivers license a requirement**
- Training In: Pits/Products & Hours of Operation, Yard Inspection Training, Loader Inspection and Maintenance Training, Working Alone, Hazard Reporting, Hotsy Training, Time Sheets, Job Sheets, WHMIS
