**Financial Analyst, Level 1**

The Financial Analyst, Level I, is the junior role within the Financial Analyst Levels but requires an individual to be a designated accountant from Canada. This position is responsible for aspects of statutory and regulatory operational reporting and compliance for the London Drugs group of companies. This position is comprised of part transactional accounting and part analytical accounting. This position is also responsible for supporting and maintaining processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate compliance with some governmental and regulatory obligations.

**Key responsibilities include**:

- Protect and maintain confidentiality of all financial and operational information.
- Assist with all statutory and regulatory obligations to ensure full compliance with reporting and remittance requirements including but not limited to preparation of company GST and PST.
- Assist with the accounting and reporting requirements for all business units and any new companies that may be added to the London Drugs Group.
- Support the real estate share services and work with the Controller and Senior Accounting Manager on Real Estate related matters including reporting, analysis, and audit if required.
- Fixed asset management within PeopleSoft.
- Preparation of schedules and reconciliations in support of monthly financial statement preparation.
- Providing monthly and annual information reporting to Statistics Canada as required.
- Works with the Controller and Senior Accounting Manager to ensure a clean and timely midyear and end audit as well as outside regulatory audits.
- Support Controller and Senior Accounting Manager with special projects and workflow process improvements.
- May be required to represent the Finance department on special project teams.
- May be required to assist in supporting the operation of a department as needed.
- This role involves tight deadlines, accounting for multiple companies and variety of accounting activities ranging from general ledger transactions to financial reporting.
- Sharp technical skills, a high degree of discipline, organization, and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills when dealing with customers, staff & management.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Highly organized and able to multitask effectively and work under changing priorities.
- Initiative to isolate and solve problems.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment, delegate and follow-up.

**EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE**:

- Designated CPA in Canada
- Strong technical accounting skills and in-depth knowledge of GAAP
- Experience working with PeopleSoft or other large ERP accounting system.
- Must have strong computer skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
