**We are currently seeking a mature individual with proven leadership experience to join our team as a Lumber Yard Supervisor.**

Reporting to the General Manager, the Lumber Yard Supervisor oversees all aspects of Lumber Yard operations, including maintenance of facilities, inventory control, merchandising, sales, cost containment, personnel management, and customer interaction. The Lumber Yard Supervisor accomplishes objectives through personal action and/or delegation of responsibilities to the team. The Lumber Yard Supervisor performs all assigned tasks with sufficient speed and accuracy to ensure warehouse operations run safely, efficiently, and professionally, always providing courteous and prompt customer service.

**Duties/Responsibilities**:

- Supervisory:_
- Supervise the daily activities of Lumber Yard, Deliveries, and Warehouse associates, keeping productivity at peak levels
- Maintain a positive work environment that aligns to company values and codes of conduct
- Regularly walk the Yard with associates to identify opportunity areas, conduct coaching/follow-up, and define daily work priorities
- Schedule and ensure that appropriate levels of qualified staffing are in place, taking action as needed to adjust hours in relation to business needs, absences, etc.
- Initiate and participate in the hiring and training of new personnel
- Drive accountability and associate procedural awareness through training audits and other corrective feedback/disciplinary action
- Conduct performance assessment evaluations on team members and provide management with feedback to be leveraged in annual reviews
- Ensure that all incidents, near-misses, accidents, and hazards are reported, investigated, and that corrective action is initiated as required
- Ensure that Certification Training is provided to associates, to meet legislative requirements (eg. forklift operators, propane refilling, etc.) and that personal protective equipment is consistently utilized
- Participate and support the Joint Health & Safety Committee, as applicable, to improve Yard safety

Ensure that all associates receive proper on-boarding and ongoing job-specific training as applicable
- Facility Management:_
- Ensure efficient execution and oversight of all goods arriving/leaving the Yard via inbound shipments, store-to-store transfers, and customer deliveries (material handling, product staging, verification of order accuracy, process adherence, record-keeping, and shrink prevention)
- Provide a best-in-class customer experience through the effective execution of in-store standards (delivery of excellent customer service, ensuring 100% in-stock and maintaining sufficient job lot quantities, upholding a safe shopping/working environment, keeping bays/laneways clean and accessible, etc.)
- Troubleshoot issues and de-escalate customer/vendor/associate concerns in a timely manner
- Work collaboratively with all members of the retail team, and store leadership, to seek operational improvements, drive transparency/accountability, and improve service provision
- Ensure that customer orders are scheduled, staged, and delivered, in a manner that optimizes travel, wages, and expense, while also meeting customer expectations and deadlines
- Organize, and maintain, the merchandising structure/layout of the Yard to streamline product put-away, order-picking, customer access/navigation, and reduce damage/shrink (ie: protect needed items from impacts of weather, theft, etc.)
- Monitor the condition of equipment, vehicles, and hardware to ensure any maintenance/replenishment is addressed in a timely manner, seeking to identify and reduce, situations of misuse/abuse
- Ensure that building operational systems (burglar and sprinkler alarm systems, fire extinguishers, fuel tanks, emergency lighting, etc.) are maintained and in good working order
- Implement and ensure that security is maintained within the Yard at all times and ensure that open communication occurs on any breach of security. Inform the General Manager of any breach of security and any subsequent preventative actions
- Customer Service:_
- Ensure customers are greeted promptly by staff as they enter the lumber yard
- Review invoices and assist customers in locating and loading their merchandise
- Deliver purchases and/or pick up returned goods
