Position: Inclusivity and Accessibility project officer

One-year contract

Supervisor: CSV Executive Director

Hours: 35 hours per week

Rate of Pay: $59,000/annum

**Overview**:
The Project Officer will review the current operations of the Children’s Safety Village as well as the physical layout with the goal to eliminating as many barriers as possible toward full accessibility and inclusivity. That work will also include ensuring the new Village is as inclusive and accessible as possible prior to it being built. Subsequently the project officer, working with community partners, will devise potential new programming for the Village to teach inclusivity and accessibility, including but not limited to programs designed to help those with accessibility challenges and their families and caregivers.

**Duties**:

- Review all current Children’s Safety Village programs and practices, including the physical Village and buildings with a particular focus on inclusivity and accessibility.
- Create a report to be presented to the board of directors outlining ways to improve inclusivity and accessibility immediately and moving forward, particularly for the new Village.
- Reach out to community partners to determine areas of need and possibilities of partnerships and programming at the Village dealing with inclusivity and accessibility, including potentially developing programming aimed directly toward assisting those with accessibility issues as well as teaching others about inclusivity and accessibility issues.
- Create a report to be presented to the board of directors outlining potential new programming related to inclusivity and accessibility.
- Assist the Executive Director with day-to-day operations as needed including occasional social media posts and working with programmers, partners and visiting classes.

**Qualifications**:

- College diploma or university degree in an applicable field
- 3 Year Experience or post graduate degree in related field
- Experience working in the non-profit sector an asset
- Excellent research, verbal and written communication skills
- Courtesy, tact, discretion, grammar and presentation skills
- Knowledge of online learning models
- Good planning, organization and time management skills
- Experience with grant writing an asset but not required
- Confidentiality

**WORKING RELATIONSHIPS**
- **Board of Directors**:Ongoing Interactions, attendance at board meetings when required, provide guidance and opinions on project
- **Committees**: Participate and engage in committees when required as they pertain to the project
- **Community Partners**: Communicate and liaison with Police, Fire, Paramedic and other services as they relate to the project
- **School Boards**:Communicate and engage with school board representatives as they relate to the project
- **Staff**: Continuous interaction to assist, advise, guide, and resolve questions, and concerns as they relate to the project

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- **Physical Effort**:Majority of time is spent in a comfortable position and most activities require a variety of easy muscle movements. Sustained keyboarding with a required ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- **Physical Environment**:Environment has only occasional exposure to mild unpleasant or disagreeable conditions with remote possibility of accident or health hazards. Occasional travel for business and client meetings required. Occasional work on evenings or weekends for special events and community engagements.
- **Sensory Attention**:Work activities involve need to concentrate for intermediate durations and close attention several times daily. Excellent reading comprehension of printed and electronic text required.
- **Mental Stress**:Fast-paced work environment with occasional exposure to one or more mental pressures (e.g. deadlines, needs for accurate, potentially difficult clients or situations).
