**Job Posting**
- The Youth Centre Worker will be working under the supervision of the Youth Centre Coordinator to support operations at the Power House Youth Centre in Halifax. This centre offers a variety of services and programs for youth, including both drop-in and registered programs. The Youth Centre Worker is responsible for creating and maintaining a supportive environment for the youth. The role requires a flexible, energetic, and adaptable personality and involves leading activities, connecting youth to support services, and managing the dynamics and behaviours in the space.- **DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assist in the coordination, and facilitation of drop-in activities at the Power House Youth Centre
- Provide orientation and conduct intake with youth attending drop-in and registered programs
- Provide resource and referral support to youth (both in-house support and external support)
- Engage youth during drop-in times and play an active role in managing behaviour, group dynamics, and resolving conflict
- Create and maintain a safe and inclusive space
- Participate in daily debrief huddles and monthly staff meetings
- Carry out daily administrative duties including recording information from the shift, (I.e., reporting incidents, making note of supplies needed, and participant attendance, etc.)
- Carry out weekly and monthly administrative duties including counting inventory and reporting the condition of equipment, maintaining the daily binder, and printing materials

**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education and Experience**:

- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Experience working with youth between the ages of 13-24 years old
- Experience facilitating educational and/or recreational programs in one or more of the following areas considered an asset: life skills development, first aid, babysitters training, cooking and food literacy, art, crafts, gardening, games, multi-player tabletop RPGs, and playing music
- Experience working within a harm reduction framework an asset
- Experience working with at-risk youth considered an asset
- Experience working with 2SLGBTQIA+ youth considered an asset
- Experience working with individuals with lived mental health experience is considered an asset
- Experience in leadership and group facilitation is considered an asset
- Mental Health First Aid is considered an asset
- Suicide prevention training is considered an asset
- A suitable combination of training and experience may be considered

**Technical / Job-Specific Knowledge and Abilities**:

- Knowledge of youth engagement strategies
- Knowledge of current services available for youth in HRM
- Excellent communication skills and capacity for setting and maintaining boundaries

**Conditions of Employment**
- Applicants must complete screening through the Child Abuse Registry and a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Applicants must be willing to obtain Non-Violent Intervention Crisis Training (provided to the successful applicant for free)

- **SALARY**:Non-Union; $20.00 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)
