The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator will provide hands-on support with the goal of delivering the safest highest quality service to our clients by facilitating the local implementation, and maintenance of the Company’s Environmental Health and Safety Management Systems. They will implement and optimize EHS policies, processes, instruments and procedures in compliance with local legislation and global policy. In addition to having health and safety qualifications the holder of this position must exhibit comprehension of general quality assurance and environmental responsibilities.

This position fully supports current ISO 9001:2015 compliance and process methodologies, and will also take an emerging and contributive role integrating emerging BRB International B.V. requirements such as ISO 14000 - Environmental Management and ISO 45001 - Occupational Health and Safety.

**Responsibilities**:

- Drive the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives to cultivate a safe and healthy minded, environmentally friendly working environment. Cultivate a positive safety culture.
- Enhance EHS site-specific programs and address regulated EHS country and corporate standards.
- Oversee the organization’s environmental, health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with regulations.
- Comply with global policies implemented by BRB International B.V. (Parent Company) regarding environmental, health and safety.
- Identifying environmental, health & safety risks and hazards in the workplace and implementing prevention programs.
- Monitor and implement EHS and contract governance in line with Company’s policies and procedures
- Alert upper management of compliance concerns including but not limited to the Company’s Heath, Safety, and Environmental Management Systems.
- Register, monitor and follow up on actions related to customer complaints.
- Interface with EHS regulatory agencies for permitting, reporting and inspections.
- Maintain a detailed knowledge of Environmental Health Safety Management as documented in the Health and Safety Manual, Environmental Manual, EHS Procedures and other supporting documentation.
- Ensure all internal and external Environmental, Health and Safety objectives are achieved.
- Manage emergency procedures (such as fire alarm drills).
- Organize and oversee the schedule of required safety training.
- Review subcontractors and supplier’s site specific health and safety management system and training meet the local regulatory requirements.
- Develop the review of risk assessments, job safety analysis and safe systems.
- Implement and maintain health and safety records for the site.
- Analyze and identify leading and lagging trends to assist in incident/injury prevention.
- Compile reports to update ongoing safety processes and address current issues.
- Provide recommendations for implementation of preventative and corrective actions and suggest safety program improvements.
- Provide guidance, and training, where necessary, to CSL employees on Company EHS policies or procedures.
- Schedule, lead, perform, and report on internal HSE Audits.
- Review corrective action plans and evidence of implementation, as necessary.
- Incident Management - With guidance from the Manufacturing Manager, support site when injuries, incidents, near misses and hazard observations occur by assisting in investigations and providing guidance for case management.
- Investigate any H&S concerns including accidents, incidents and near misses to determine root cause and contributing factors.
- Carries out all responsibilities in a supportive manner with total adherence to: the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures; Quality Management System; Compliance and Regulations; Vision, Mission and Strategy, and exercises good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy.
- Keep abreast of new and updated regulations and legislation associated with ESH activities to ensure compliance. Advise the organization accordingly.
- Work in collaboration with the Quality ISO Lead to ensure the integration of all Management Systems.
- Act as a member of the Emergency Response and Crisis Team
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Relevant post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety and/or a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of related practical experience in Environmental Health, and Safety.
- Experience in a Manufacturing facility. Chemical industry experience is an asset.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) in progress or completed would be an asset.
- Strong knowledge of federal and international regulation in regulated manufacturing environment (ie. REACH).
