Job Location: Nanticoke, Ontario
**About the role**
Stelco has an immediate opening for a Maintenance Planner at its Lake Erie Works Mobile Equipment Repair Centre (MERC) in Nanticoke, Ontario, Canada. Safety is a priority at Stelco, ensuring you and all those in your facility maintain a safe work environment is a #1 priority.
**Day-to-day Activities**
- Adhere to the company safety program to ensure a safe work environment within the Operating facility
- Promote safety by various means (safety contacts, safety tours, incident investigations and follow-up, MSDS and JSA review, equipment condition, etc.) and leads by example
- Application of technical principles and problem solving techniques to evaluate and develop a repair procedure for plant equipment.
- Use technical knowledge and maintenance history of mechanical equipment through a CMMS system to develop and implement preventive maintenance and repair programs
- Perform administrative activities such as planning and scheduling work, completing maintenance reports, conducting safety tours, and compiling other reporting as necessary by the manufacturing and maintenance facility
- Responsible for coordinating the refurbishment of the Department’s critical spare
- Order material and communicate with vendors, and expedite materials/repairs as required
- Analyze and estimate the specifics, prepare detailed job analysis, scope of work, material sequence of operation
- Process documents for ordering and receiving supplies or parts using systems in effect
- Retrieve from files a Standard Job Procedure if exists and assemble this procedure made up of permits, material specs, drawings or sketches, manuals
- Meet daily with supervisors and planners of the department, identify backlog, develop a plan, set priority of work.
- Monitor work in progress, update schedules
- Maintain a backlog of work, a) work orders analyzed, b) work orders awaiting parts, c) work orders ready to schedule.
- Fill in as supervisor on afternoon shifts and vacation relief.
- Establish performance goals and objectives with Area Manager - Maintenance
**What you bring to the table**
**Job Qualifications**
- Completion of a High School Diploma
- A background in automotive or heavy equipment maintenance is preferred.
- A valid G or G2 drivers licence and vehicle is required
**Job Skills and Knowledge**
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal and leadership skills
- Good problem solving skills
- Desire to work in a shop floor environment
- Good computer skills
- An enthusiastic approach and ability to learn quickly and assume responsibility

- Effectively manage work flow and direct personal at shop floor level and respond quickly to mill breakdowns
