Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager and General Manager, the incumbent monitors & maintains hotel’s facilities and equipment to preserve brand image, and maximize life of facilities and equipment and optimize safety and comfort of guests, while maintaining company and legislative standards.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the day to day maintenance of the property; working flexible shifts and weekends.
- Implement maintenance activities schedules to cover all tasks to be completed on a regular basis, plan for responding to emergency situations.
- Practices regular preventative maintenance and upgrades as necessary, all technical services & components of the building including electrical systems, mechanical systems, energy management systems, fire alarm/safety systems, grounds, parking, etc.
- May perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs in accordance with BRAND directives and instructions.
- Responds to guest calls when on duty.
- Supports the service personnel in any way possible to enhance guest services.
- Responds to Front desk calls, assisting in checking rooms, luggage delivery and guest special request.
- Anticipates, identifies and corrects system breakdowns to achieve guest satisfaction.
- Communicates with Facilities Manager and co-workers regarding product/ service deficiencies, equipment, safety problems, etc.
- Is fully prepared for fire alarm procedures and other safety requirements. To complete all fire safety reports (e.g. Fire extinguishers, Health & Safety, Equipment reports)
- Is familiar with the location of how to control the supply of water, electricity and gas in an emergency situation.
- Refurbishes furniture and fixtures within the hotel such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors, windows and counters. Paints and finishes furniture and fixtures, if needed.
- Performs general minor repairs to in house plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and HVAC systems.
- Performs routine maintenance on air handling units (HVAC)
- Performs room inspections as required.
- Conducts fire alarm training weekly and drills monthly.
- Reports work completed daily to the General Manager.
- Removes snow/ice-surrounding hotel.
- Some janitorial work inside/outside of the building, keeping the hotel’s appearance at its best.
- Ensure compliance with hotel’s Occupational Health & Safety procedures.
- Pool overlooking and chemical testing.
- Duties associated with Maintenance position including but not limited to the above

**Minimum Qualifications and Skills**
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Experience as a hotel Maintenance worker.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- A “hands-on individual” knowledgeable in general maintenance, HVAC, woodwork, plumbing, electrical, drywall, grouting, grounds maintenance, boilers, small appliances, etc.
- Certifications will be an asset.
- Ability to deal with all levels of management in a professional manner.

**Type of Supervision Required**

Reports to the hotel Maintenance Manager and General Manager. Works under general instructions to prioritize and complete assigned tasks.
