Your Opportunity

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary/matrix team, this role is part of the project management office and will be responsible for assisting with field work for aquatic and terrestrial restoration including adaptive management, monitoring, and maintenance. With direction from project management staff, this position will play an integral role in on-the-ground implementation of ecological restoration projects.

**You will**:
Provide support and implement work related to the planting of native species in various natural environments
Provide support and implement work related to the removal and treatment of invasive plant species
Use basic construction techniques to build habitat structures
Collect field data to inform restoration monitoring / effectiveness monitoring related to restoration plantings, habitat, project site conditions
Provide field assistance on restoration projects as assigned
Conduct habitat, vegetation, and invasive inventories to aid in restoration planning
Build, foster and sustain positive public and corporate image
Your Qualifications
A background and understanding of the principles of ecology and natural resource management in Ontario
Knowledge and experience with various restoration activities and methods
Knowledge of restoration effectiveness monitoring sampling methodologies
Proficiency with native plant species identification, including knowledge of non-native invasive species
Knowledge of the issues and impacts of invasive species on natural systems
Ability and aptitude to work outdoors in a variety of conditions (including challenging terrain) and to adapt to the daily challenges associated with fieldwork.
Ability to work independently, to take a leadership role where necessary, and to think creatively in tackling obstacles and developing solutions
Ability to navigate using orthophotos or aerial imagery
Ability to interpret planting plans and complete daily planter reports
Ability to assist in the implementation of community tree planting events and guide volunteers
A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class “G”, with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract is required; experience trailering is an asset
Standard First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
Strong and effective communication skills
