Addictions Counsellor

**Job Type**: Part-Time Permanent

**Pay**:$20.00 per hour + $2.00 premium for overnights

**YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provides day to day support to residents as needed (ex: ensuring clients are comfortable and communicating on a regular basis with clients and other members' of the resident's recovery team).
- Provides administrative support as needed to the front desk, admissions or discharge.
- Ensures the safety for the residents. Uses effective behavior management skills to de-escalate crisis situations and minimize harm to residents and other staff.
- Maintains communications/contact with all clinical staff regarding resident issues, through exchanges of information, as appropriate via verbal, written and electronic communication.

**WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO HAVE**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in social work or related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals in recovery from substance abuse or mental health issues
- Knowledge of community resources available to individuals in recovery
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills and ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate records
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques preferred
