QA Manager

**Martin's Processing Ltd. operates a State-of-the-Art facility in Elmira, Ontario. Here we produce our famous Crispy Apple Chips, Apple Cider, fresh sliced apples for commercial bakeries and our newest product line, Apple Puree.**

**We are presently looking for a full-time permanent Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager. **Reporting to the Director Food Safety and Innovation (DFSI), this position provides direction, training, and support to the Elmira manufacturing site in all matters relating to Foods Safety and Quality Systems. The Manager will hold the titles of HACCP Coordinator and PCQI and will be responsible for leading the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the Food Safety and Quality Systems.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Act as first contact in quality and technical leadership to troubleshoot challenges related to food safety and quality, including issues with production, lab results, equipment, and personnel.
- Provide supportive leadership for QA staff across 3 shifts in a BRCGS certified plant environment.
- Function as HACCP team leader, leading team in hazard analysis, HACCP plan development, and verification & validation activities.
- Assist and support Quality, Operations and other departments in development and maintenance of BRCGS based Food Safety and Quality Systems.
- Ensure on-going compliance with provincial and federal regulations and programs.
- Ensure environmental program is followed, including swabbing equipment, drains, floor, etc. and submits samples for laboratory analysis.
- Work with the Director (DFSI) to lead Food Safety and Quality audits conducted by customers, governmental agencies or third parties including BRCGS and Organic.
- Responsible for the execution of the internal audit program
- Collaborate with the Director (DFSI) and other members of the management team to manage CAPA process, KPI’s, customer complaints and audit related non conformances.
- Liaise with customers in matters relating to Food Safety and Quality and provide all necessary information for customers related to FSQA in a professional manner

**Qualifications & Competencies**:

- Bachelors in Food Science, or a related discipline such as Biology, Microbiology or Chemistry.
- Formal HACCP training from a recognized training facility.
- A minimum of 5 years of QA experience; 2 years in a leadership position.
- Food experience is highly preferred in a GFSI recognized environment (BRCGS or SQF).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (listening, verbal, written, MS office)
- Strong analytical skills - identify, scrutinize, improve, and streamline complex work processes.
- Flexible, adaptable, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent planning, decision making and problem solving ability required for daily FSQA management
