**Purpose**

Lead practical cost saving initiatives, projects and equipment efficiency improvements. Champion safety and housekeeping improvements and provide guidance, support to production associates. Work closely with management and supervision to determine timely solution to problems when they arise. Interface with Maintenance, Engineering, Quality and Tooling teams to provide long term equipment fixes.

**Responsibilities**
- Plans for upcoming continuous improvement events. Ensures that the proper tools, supplies, and labour are allocated to specified tasks.
- Work with the teams to establishes clear standards, expectations, objectives and priorities and demonstrates a commitment to achieving them.
- Communicates with Production Superintendents and Supervisors to coordinate work tasks.
- Proactively seek ideas from production teams for practical improvements to equipment and processes.
- Facilitate change management throughout various stages of our lean journey so that continuous improvement and teamwork become the standard.
- Work with employees to identify and develop continuous improvement strategies that will drive operational excellence, increased capacity and cost reductions.
- Conduct assessments of manufacturing operations to provide focused improvement opportunities to increase production efficiencies, eliminate waste, reduce inventory, reduce lead times, increase quality and increase due date performance.
- Facilitate and coach employees to provide solutions, optimize resources and monitor progress.
- Develop benchmarks, measurements, quantifiable benefits and track progress.
- Share accountability for improvements in operational efficiencies.
- Plex compliance.
- Ability to use cranes and man lifts at high heights and in a safe manner.
- Submitting of P.O’s for equipment, materials and parts.
- Manages project timelines, costs, parts and supplies.
- Assist in the capital expenditure process, to ensure that adequate and competitive equipment is available to the team.
- Implement continuous improvement programs involving changes to equipment, processes or services & building maintenance.
- Influence the decisions on plant layout to ensure proper material flow.
- Champion Health & Safety and Housekeeping initiatives. Assisting the teams with resolution of environmental or health and safety concerns.
- Provide training to production associates on new and recently modified existing equipment.
- Act as liaison between vendor and plant team.
- Ability to bring in outside contractors when required for design and quoting and fabrication when required.
- Overseeing and ensuring contractors are aware of company Plant Safety Rules and adhere to contractor policies.
- Cover for C.I Manager when required.
- Other duties as required, including special projects as they arise.

**Skills/Experience/Requirements**
- CET or College Diploma in an Engineer Discipline or Skilled Trades License
- Knowledge of welding operations, MIG, TIG, stick, electrode, Oxyacetylene welding, brazing, and Plasma Cutting
- Project leading experience
- Machine specific training as applicable (Idra, Prince, Buhler)
- Sound mechanical aptitude with the ability to make general repairs
- Ability to make recommendations and improvement on existing m/c guarding, platforms, foundary tools, etc.
- Project management experience
- Time/ priority management skills for managing multiple projects
- Experience with Plant Operations, policies and troubleshooting
- Reliable, able to work independently and as part of a team with a flexible work schedule
- Organized and able to keep accurate documentation
- Understanding of most equipment with the plants
- Familiarity with the OH&S Act and regulations
- Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Strong team ethic
- Be able to work as a sole contributor as required and make sound decisions
- Ability to use man lifts at high levels and use of cranes in production

**Salary**: $60,000.00-$76,000.00 per year
