Eligibility Requirements

Full-time student currently enrolled in a post-secondary program OR entering full-time post-secondary studies in September 2023.

Legally eligible to work in Canada as a student.

Can provide appropriate documentation based on the requirements of relevant divisions (can include driver’s abstracts, G class license, completion of a police check, operator in training license).

Engineering & Environmental Services

The Engineering and Environmental Service department interacts at the frontline with residents by providing critical and quality services to enhance the lives of people in the Region of Waterloo and ensure a safe and clean environment.

The department’s work includes the provision of clean, safe drinking water to residents and businesses and the treatment of wastewater to protect the environment. It includes providing reliable collection, disposal, recycling, composting and reduction of waste from residential and industrial/commercial sources.

Public Health & Emergency Services

Public Health & Emergency Services regularly touch the lives of the half million people living and working in Waterloo Region. It is made up of dedicated and passionate individuals that make a difference. Along with our community partners, we support health for all.

Transportation Services

The Transportation Services Department is responsible for all surface transportation in the Region, covering transit, roads, bike lanes and trails, as well as the transformational ION system. We aim to promote travel choice, support sustainable mobility and build a multi-modal transportation network for everyone.

Our goal is to keep people moving to where they want to go while reducing their carbon footprint as the region grows to close to 1 million people over the next 30 years.

Planning, Development and Legislative Services

The Planning, Development and Legislative Services department is responsible for planning the future growth of our community and implementing a variety of strategies to support our continued community vitality, sustainability and prosperity. This includes the operation of the Region of Waterloo International Airport, the Region’s museums and libraries and the management of Regional forests.

This department is also responsible for providing a broad range of corporate support services, including legal counsel, real estate, licensing, by-law enforcement and information management.
