**The City of Kawartha Lakes**, located on the Trent-Severn Waterway in central Ontario, offers a unique mix of urban, rural, agricultural and water-front living to a growing population of 75,000, plus its annual seasonal residents and guests. Bordered to the south and west by the Oak Ridges Moraine and GTA and Haliburton and the Muskokas' to the north, our goal is excellence and responsible municipal management in the delivery of quality services to our residents and in planning for our communities.

This position will support supervisory staff in compliance with all pertinent health and safety legislation; contribute to the development and annual review of Standard Operating Procedures, participate in departmental safety audits, assist in the facilitation of investigations, manage the requirements of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, including managing occupational injury and illness claims with auditing and reconciling of WSIB accounts payable. In addition, the successful incumbent will assist supervisors with the development of work accommodation programs and participate in various health and safety initiatives and programs, conduct ergonomic assessments, arrange third party assessments, facilitate an ergonomics champion program, and conduct physical demand assessments. To achieve this, you will be working in conjunction with the Supervisor, Corporate Safety and other City supervisory staff, travelling to various worksites. Your work will enable the City of Kawartha Lakes to provide supervisory staff and employees with health and safety support services and training. You will be a corporate champion promoting a culture of safe work practices and a positive work environment.

**Requirements and Qualifications**: You will be a motivated, passionate Health and Safety professional. You will have completed a post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or related and will have a minimum of three (3) years of experience directly overseeing occupational health and safety programs such as Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) management or Joint Health and Safety Committee. You have obtained (or are willing to obtain) the Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP). You will have strong presentation skills to facilitate and deliver occupational health and safety training, along with an understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and any other relevant legislation. You will have excellent written communication skills, excellent conflict resolution and human relation skills, and be proficient in computer and internet. The position requires travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes to attend meetings or deliver training and therefore access to a vehicle is essential to fulfill the duties of the position; some overtime or early/late meetings will be required.
