**Scope of Position**:
Manage the lifecycle of Vendors and Products that Vallen offers. Determines category strategy, direction and roadmap, ensuring alignment with Supply Chain Strategy. Data mine to ensure we are representing the right Vendors/Products that support Vallen's Sales Strategy in the most profitable way. Lead line/vendor reviews in conjunction with Supply Chain Team and Sales to optimize profitability of Vallen's vendor base.
Category Manager will drive cross functional execution of documented Category Plans and is responsible to drive vendor net profitability ensuring Vallen's business continuity.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop strategic plan with collaboration from Sales/Supply Chain/Pricing &Contracts and operations)
- Report out to business on market/customer/vendor insights
- Report on current business state by category
- Develop strategic line structure by category
- Manage product transitions/launches/vendor returns
- Collaborate with Sales Leadership to define core vendor list by product category
- Work with sales to transition non-core vendors to core vendors (managing tail spend)
- Negotiate Programs/Seasonal/Volume Buys (pallet) - PPV, extended terms
- Facilitate promotional programs, product transitions, launches and vendor returns
- Field vendor related questions from the business and vendor community
- Manage Vendor Scorecards and reslove issues idenitifed through this process (e.g. turns, fill rates, delivery, etc.)
- Responsible for integrity of system information
- Indentify product gaps in product categories
- Attend and report on pertinent Industry Trade Shows
- Lead times into CDC
- Provide Vendor Insight and Direction to Sales
- Host Vendor top to top meetings
- Other Duties as Required

**Education & Training**:

- High School Diploma required.
- Post Secondary education in Supply Chain, Logistics, and/or Business preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs required (Outlook, Word, Excel)
