Since the establishment of Strathcona, the first provincial park in 1911, the parks and protected areas system has grown to over 1,000 protected areas, covering over 14 million hectares, over 14% of the province. BC Parks is responsible for all matters related to the effective management and conservation of natural and cultural resources in provincial parks, conservancies, protected areas, recreation areas and ecological reserves throughout British Columbia. BC Parks’ mission is to protect representative and special natural places within the province's Protected Areas System for world-class conservation, outdoor recreation, education and scientific study.

**Job Requirements**:

- Master’s Degree (or higher) in Safety Management, Parks and Recreation Management, Natural Resource Management, Criminology, or related safety, compliance and enforcement field AND minimum of two (2) years’ related experience; OR,
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Management, Parks and Recreation Management, Natural Resource Management, Criminology, or related safety, compliance and enforcement field, AND minimum of three (3) years’ related experience; OR,
- Diploma in a natural resources field and four (4) years’ related experience; OR,
- Certificate or coursework in a natural resources field and five (5) years’ related experience; OR,
- An equivalent combination of relevant education, experience and training may also be considered.
- Valid BC Class 5 (or equivalent) Driver’s Licence.

Related experience must include each of the following:

- Experience in compliance and enforcement as a Park Ranger, Conservation Officer, Natural Resource Officer, or in a parks management position, or other similar experience.
- Experience in policy analysis and/or developing and implementing programs related to safety, compliance and enforcement.
- Experience in safety management, undertaking environmental, health, and safety audits, inspections, and investigations.
- Experience using analytical, problem solving, planning and organizational skills.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

- Experience in developing and implementing provincial and strategic legislation and policy, and programs related to safety, compliance and enforcement.
- Experience in protected area or recreation management and operations in the National, Provincial, Regional or Municipal park setting, or similar environment.
- Experience with all phases of project management.
- Experience working with senior executive and officials (such as CEOs, COOs, Minister’s Office, Cabinet Committees, etc.) and providing advice and recommendations.
- Experience in law enforcement, criminology, and the enforcement of statutory and regulatory law.

**About this Position**:
There is currently one (1) permanent, full time position available.
