The Data Scientist is the expert data scientist for a ministry, sector or enterprise for complex projects of all scales. This position applies expert advice and knowledge pertaining to all overarching data science to unique business scenarios.

Working in collaboration with the Economists, the Data Scientist will focus on writing code, analyzing data, and developing analytical products that have a strong visualization component to help tell the story for internal stand-alone or corporate data warehouse reporting (no web app design).

**Job Requirements**:

- Degree in a related field and 2-year related experience; or, a diploma in the related field, and 3 years related experience; or, certification from a recognized institution, in the related field and 4 years related experience; or, 4 years related experience

**Related Education fields may include**:Data Science, Computer Science, statistics, mathematics, or other relevant specialty education as designated by program requirements.

**Related experience includes**:

- Experience analyzing administrative data using R, Python or SQL
- Experience creating and delivering executive-level presentations for the purpose of decision making such as dashboards, graphs, plots and tables, using R, Python, Power BI, Excel or similar tools
- Experience developing powerful visual analytical products from data
- Experience at leveraging structured and unstructured data sources to conduct quantitative analysis.
- Experience determining appropriate use of various problem structuring methods and statistical methods for sampling, distribution assessment, bias and error.
- Clearly demonstrate experience developing analysis and reports using R/SQL programming

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Strong knowledge in predictive modeling methodology
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
- Ability to interpret and implement advanced mathematics, scientific rules and methods to solve complex problems
- Ability to identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Ability to analyze needs and deliverable requirements to create a design.
- Ability to comprehend how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
- Ability to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
- Familiarity with machine learning, clustering and classification techniques to analyze diverse sources of data.
