**Job Title**: Psychotherapist

**Reports To**: Clinical Director

**Status**: Independent Contractor to do at least 240 client sessions/year

**Compensation**: Commensurate with experience and qualifications

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Masters Degree in Counselling or Social Work, or other applicable Masters degrees
- Current full registration to practice as a psychotherapist through CRPO or OCSWSSW, or other recognized professional college
- Clear demonstration of strong clinical skills
- Ability to see clients virtually and in-person, though virtual-only positions will be considered
- Record keeping skills

**SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Key Commitments**
- Reporting to the Clinical Director, the Psychotherapist provides individual, couple, family and/or group counselling to CCO clients in accordance with their areas of expertise; produces, in accordance with _
- Agency policy and procedures and recognized counselling processes, written clinical notes and reports; participates in monthly peer support groups and external clinical supervision, as well as occasional internal training; provides other services such as assisting with the collection of client fees as needed; and from time to time may be engaged to contribute to other CCO ministries including education and promotional events._

**Key Responsibilities**

**Clinical Interventions**:
In accordance with currently accepted standards for counselling professionals in Ontario, CCO policy and procedures and in compliance with Scriptural principles as outlined in CCO’s Summary Statement of
Faith, therapists provide clinical intervention services to individuals, couples, families, children or groups by:

- receiving new case assignments as per agency protocol;
- discussing agency protocol with clients in initial session, (using the client information sheet on limits to confidentiality, cancellation policy, etc.);
- conducting initial and periodic assessments of client comfort level and informed consent with respect to each stage of the counselling process;
- conducting initial and periodic clinical assessments, including suicidal and violence risk assessments;
- setting realistic and achievable clinical goals initially and periodically throughout the counselling cycle;
- preparing case reports for EAPs and sponsors as needed in accordance with the _Personal_
- Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act,_ other legislative and regulatory direction and CCO policy and procedures;
- providing theoretically informed, culturally and spiritually responsive counselling interventions;
- monitoring client progress according to initial and subsequent clinical goals;
- preparing clients to wrap up therapy as appropriate;
- dealing with crisis situations as necessary, in consultation with the peer supervisor, external supervisors, peer support group participants and as appropriate the Business Director;
- undertaking case conferencing with peers and various professionals in the community as needed.

**Clinical Accountability and Support Activities**:
According to currently accepted standards for counselling professionals in Ontario and in accordance with CCO’s administrative protocol (as outlined in Manual of Policies and Procedures):

- maintains an up-to-date file on each client, including opening and termination reports;
- prepares clinical reports as requested by other professionals in the community in accordance

with professional standards, CCO policies and peer reviews;
- submits administrative reports as required;
- participates in monthly CCO Peer Support and monthly external supervision with the appointed

CCO clinical supervising professional;
- reviews and organizes case material from session notes or recordings as required for clinical supervision;
- presents case material and receives feedback in individual and group clinical supervision and

Peer Support Group sessions;
- maintains a continuous learning program in accordance with the requirements of professional associations and the needs of CCO;
- adheres to CCO privacy and confidentiality policies and protocol for ensuring that clients understand the legally mandated limits to confidentiality required by the _Mental Health Act_, the
- Child and Family Services Act_ and the _Regulated Health Professions Act_ and on CCO protocol;
