**Position Type**:Ten (10) hours per week (evenings/weekends)
**Salary**:$17.20/hr

**PURPOSE**:
Reporting to the Services Technician, this position’s main responsibility is to support the collection work with an emphasis on shelving.
**ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Shelves materials (books, games, dvds, etc.).
- Reads shelves and keeps them in order.
- Empties book drop.
- Ensures public spaces are tidy (pushing in chairs, collecting books, toys and other materials left at the end of shelves, on tables, etc.) and that various areas have sufficient supplies as needed.
- Retrieves materials at the request of supervisor or designate.
- Pull materials from shelves that require new labels, new cases, for mending or for withdrawal.
- Cleans CDs, DVDS, books and other items as needed.
- Prepares program materials as directed.
- Sets up for programs (coffee, tea, books etc.) as directed.
- Assists in Technical services by unpacking/unwrapping materials and preparing materials for cataloguing.

**MASTERY**_**:_
The position requires:
- Minimum 16 years of age.
- A self-starter who has a positive attitude and a flare for customer service.
- Physical ability to stand for hours at a time, carry loads of up to 40 pounds, push loaded carts/bins, bend, stretch and kneel.
- Demonstrated interest in libraries.
- Ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationship with staff and public.
- Ability to follow established routines with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Must provide a successful Criminal Records Check, if over the age of 18.
**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
- Hours of work will include evenings and weekends to support the work of the library.
- Works in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
