As a Park Warden - Operations, you will play a central role by assisting with day-to-day park operations including, developing and administering park programs while protecting their natural, cultural and recreational heritage values.

The Ontario Parks' mission is to protect significant natural and cultural resources and maintain biodiversity in a system of provincial parks that is sustainable and provide opportunities for inspiration, enjoyment and discovery; now and for future generations.

As a part of the Wasaga Beach Provincial Park cluster of parks. The position will be responsible for the Enforcement and monitoring of 5 non-operating Provincial Parks as well as a large parcel of land within Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. In addition the position will also be required to assist with Enforcement at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park..

**What can I expect to do in this role?**: In this role, you will:

- provide group leadership for a variety of technical and operational duties as well as monitoring responsibilities for the successful day-to-day operation of the park
- assist with resource management projects
- ensure facilities and equipment are properly maintained
- perform administrative duties such as correspondence, ordering equipment and purchasing supplies
- carry out routine facility inspections, as well as ensure their normal operations
- perform a variety of skilled trades duties associated with construction, repair, maintenance and operation of the park
- provide monitoring, training and group leadership duties for the park, staff and students

**How do I qualify?**:
**Mandatory requirements**:

- You have the ability to be designated as Park Warden and meet and maintain the ministry certification criteria and standards in Use of Force training.
- You possess or have the ability to obtain a chainsaw operator's certificate.
- You are able to work shifts, weekends and holidays as required.
- You have the ability to hike/walk for long periods of time on uneven terrain.

**Technical knowledge**:

- working knowledge of resource management principles, policies and practices applicable to parks
- possess a working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act

**Equipment, building operation and maintenance**:

- knowledge of semi-skilled tasks associated with skilled trades and maintenance
- knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of powered equipment, such as chainsaws, brush cutters, tractors, ATV/UTV'S, snowmobiles, lawnmowers, boats and small hand tools
- knowledge of the operation and maintenance of Mountain Bikes and biking
- knowledge of GPS systems and GIS practices

**Interpersonal and communication skills**:

- interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, students and visitors and to work as part of a team
- communication skills to produce reports and correspondence

**Leadership skills**:

- demonstrated leadership skills to provide guidance to staff, accept responsibility and in making decisions
- ability to provide training and group leadership to a seasonal workforce of fixed-term staff and students

**Essential skills**:

- organizational skills and the ability to work independently and follow and carry out instructions
