**Bring your biology expertise to make a difference BC Parks and the implementation of its recreation expansion mandate**

BC Parks is responsible for delivering the effective management and conservation of natural and cultural resources in provincial parks, protected areas, recreation areas and ecological reserves throughout British Columbia.

The Conservation Specialist is a professional biologist who provides expert advice and guidance for ecosystem conservation, restoration, and management in parks and protected areas. This position is focused on providing resource management guidance to the recreation expansion program, overseeing impact assessment processes, ensuring environmental Best Management Practices in project delivery, and providing expert advice to decision makers.

The Conservation Specialist liaises with Indigenous communities, stakeholders, volunteers, contractors, and other parties involved in recreation expansion projects in parks and protected areas, including new campgrounds and trails. The Conservation Specialist support the delivery of the recreation expansion program, working closely with BC Parks staff and contractors, to ensure conservation policies and best practices are met.

**Job Requirements**:

- University degree in biological sciences or equivalent.
- Experience in conducting environmental monitoring and assessments, including impact assessment and planning/implementing environmental mitigation.
- Registered (or eligible) as a Registered Professional Biologist (RP Bio) in B.C. with the College of Applied Biology within six months of employment.
